Monday, February 12, 2007 As usual, I'll make up for my lack of blogging with a lot of photos. Here's Misty in a sweater she designed based on a combination of my Sweater Design and Fair Isle Sweater classes:
She adapted it from a children's pattern, and used Cascade Pastaza which, Misty assures me, is VERY WARM!! Doesn't she look great? Here's Connie's bag from my Introduction to Aran class:
I can't remember what yarn she used -- I think it was Cascade 128 (is that a real yarn?). I'll have to ask her, because it makes the cables really stand out. Looks good! This is Sue's bag from my Introduction to Entrelac class:
Gorgeous!! And then I lose track of whose bags are whose, so I'll just post a couple more photos: Is this one Linda's?
I don't know! Pretty color combination, though! Here's a bright one -- is it Pam's? I think so.
Here are the two scarves I made for the Red Scarf Project. The first one is knit directly from the Lily Chin pattern found at their website:
I used an acrylic/wool blend from my stash, called Swania. Here's a close-up of the pattern, which appears on both sides of the scarf:
Very subtle, but very nice. It's referred to as a mock cable, but it's not particularly cable-y. This second scarf is also from stash yarn:
I'm trying to recreate it so I can offer it as a free pattern, but I didn't take detailed notes like I usually do, and I can't remember how I started and ended it. It's mostly knit on the bias, but then I switched directions in the center so the two halves would be mirror images of each other -- shapewise, not yarnwise. I went on the Guild's wonderful retreat to the Kellogg Biological Station this past weekend. Had a GREAT time. I'd love to go there again when everything is green and the temperatures are warmer. Rae did a great job showing what we worked on in the Shadow Knitting workshop on Saturday, so go look at her photos -- mine would be identical. Here's the moebius scarf (I wear it doubled, as shown here) I made in Rae's workshop on Sunday:
I LOVE it. Wasn't sure I would, but I do. I used a strand of Ritratto from Stacy Charles held together with some yarn I bought from Lynne last year, which didn't have a label, so I don't know what it was. They look great together, and I have enough left over to make another one if I want to (early Christmas knitting?). I'm knitting some socks along with my Basic Socks class:
I'm using a sock yarn called Silja Strompegarn, from Asa Gjestal Spinneri in Norway. At least I think that's what the label says. It's not quite as bright as in the photo. And finally, here's what's been staring into my front window for the past week, courtesy of Son Number Two:
Fun! I've got a gajillion projects on the needles right now, but none of them are in an easy phase, so I might have to start something new. Thanks for all your movie suggestions -- I'll update you soon on what I've been watching. Sarah |
